About the Role
Framlingham Medical Practice is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic paramedic to our "On the Day" team.  
 
The successful candidate will work as an autonomous, first contact practitioner providing clinical care (including triage, diagnosis, treatment, referral, review or discharge) as appropriate, utilising a range of advanced skills and knowledge for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
 
The post holder will:
  • Work within skills and knowledge to recognise the limitations of practice and work within boundaries of training and capability according to the HCP Council code of practice;
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) within Framlingham Medical Practice;
  • Assess and triage patients, including same day triage, and as appropriate provide definitive treatment (including prescribing medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways) or make necessary referrals to other members of the primary care team;
  • Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to the organisation’s social prescribing service and, where appropriate, other community or voluntary service.

About the Candidate
If you are an experienced paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.  You will have the following skills and experience: 
  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;
  • Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients;
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;
  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
  • Have an understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council;
  • Have experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working;
  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.
About Us
Framlingham Medical Practice is a well established dispensing general practice with just under 10,000 patients. We are a forward thinking practice continually exploring new areas to develop and benefit our patients.
 
The practice clinical team consists of 4 GP partners, a salaried GP, a clinical pharmacist, 2 paramedics, an advanced nurse practitioner, 3 practice nurses, a nurse associate, 2 healthcare assistants and a Phlebotomist.  Our clinical team is supported by experienced dispensary, administration and reception teams.
 
Research: Framlingham Medical Practice during the beginning of 2024 was approved as a research practice.  The first research projects are now underway.
 
Training Practice: University students - We are proud of our association with the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia.  The practice takes 2 final year student cohorts from both universities.  The practice is in the final stages of applying to become a GP training practice.
