About the Role

Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Secretary to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis for 25 hours per week. The hours can be split over three days which must be Monday, Thursday and Friday or spread across the week from Monday to Friday.

This is a key role within the practice, providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our clinicians whilst helping to ensure patients receive timely, safe and effective care throughout their healthcare journey.

The role is varied, rewarding and occasionally challenging, requiring excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

Working as part of an experienced Medical Secretarial team, you will be involved in referral management, clinical correspondence, patient pathway monitoring and liaison with external healthcare providers.

Once you have successfully completed your probationary period, you will provide secretarial work for allocated clinicians in the practice team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial service for GPs and healthcare professionals.
  • Process referrals through eRS and other referral pathways.
  • Manage and monitor patient pathways and referral outcomes.

  • Assist with administrative support for private work and external agency requests.
  • Provide support and cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and absence.

You will be joining an experienced team of five Medical Secretaries who work closely together to support our clinicians and patients.

We are proud of the supportive culture within our department and recognise the importance of teamwork, communication and helping each other during busy periods. Whilst the role can be fast-paced, you will have the support of experienced colleagues and managers around you. Our team enjoys a varied workload, no two days are ever the same, and we take pride in delivering a high-quality service whilst maintaining a positive working environment.
