About the Role

Grove Surgery is looking to appoint an assistant practice manager to lead our organisation on a full time basis, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. 

The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Supporting the practice manager with the day-to-day running of the surgery including staff management
  • Providing leadership and guidance to staff ensuring that they adhere to policy and procedure at all times
  • Overseeing the administrative elements of QOF; liaising with GPs, nursing staff and administrators
  • Implementing systems to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards
  • Reviewing and regularly updating job descriptions and person specifications, ensuring all staff are legally and gainfully employed
  • Supporting the Practice Manager with recruitment
  • Evaluating, organising and overseeing the staff induction programme
  • Overseeing an effective staff appraisal process
  • Overseeing an effective practice and staff development plan for all staff whilst maintaining a robust training record
  • Updating and acting as the focal point for the practice website and social media sites
  • Guiding the team to reach QOF targets
  • Manage the significant event database, providing advice to staff and briefing the team at meetings as required. Identify trends and devise solutions to reduce risk and repeated occurrences of significant events
  • Supporting the practice manager with ensuring all staff are aware of the management of the premises, including health and safety aspects and undertake risk assessments and mandatory training as required
  • Support the overall practice clinical governance framework
  • Support the Practice Manager in reviewing and updating of policies and procedures
  • Lead in the management of the Patient Participation Group
  • Be an integral part of the general practice team
  • Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and children
  • Supporting in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements
  • Supporting the practice manager to ensure all colleagues are paid accurately and on time
  • Other responsibilities may be passed to you as deemed appropriate and necessary by the practice management team
  • Deputise for the practice manager

About the Candidate

If you are an experienced  assistant practice manager looking for a new challenge, then we would love to hear from you.
 
All applicants should have the following skills and qualifications: 
  • A relevant qualification in business management, or equivalent qualification or experience. Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
  • Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, as well as experience in managing a diverse workforce;
  • Strong skills and experience in HR, premises management, IT and complaint handling;
  • Prior experience of leadership and personnel management, ideally within a healthcare setting;
  • Self-motivated, with a forward-thinking, solution-focused approach;
  • The ability to develop, implement and embed policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Experience of working in an ever-evolving environment, with an ability to cope with regular change;
  • Excellent organisational, management and planning skills, IT skills and communication skills;
  • Ability to implement and manage change effectively;
  • Ability to identify training and development needs in self and other as well as experience of appraising staff.
