About the Role

Are you looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same and your work genuinely makes a difference? Woodview Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable care navigator to join our friendly, fast-paced GP practice.

You will be at the heart of the surgery, delivering excellent patient care and customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is a varied role that combines reception, care navigation, appointments management and administrative duties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answering and directing telephone calls and handling patient enquiries
  • Care navigating and signposting patients to the appropriate services
  • Booking, amending and cancelling appointments
  • Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Taking payments for private services and issuing receipts
  • Carrying out a range of administrative tasks, including scanning correspondence and updating patient records
  • Using the clinical system (SystmOne) to manage patient information and prescriptions
  • Supporting the opening and securing of the premises and maintaining a tidy, organised reception area

No previous GP or NHS experience is required as full training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

The role requires flexibility, with shifts available Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:30, and participation in a Saturday morning rota when required (i.e. for flu clinics).

About the Candidate

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a busy environment.

Essential qualities and skills include:

  • Experience working with the general public and in an administrative or receptionist role
  •  Excellent communication skills with a clear, polite telephone manner
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A professional, cheerful and empathetic approach, particularly in sensitive situations
  • Flexibility, motivation and a forward-thinking mindset

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  •  Knowledge of SystmOne
  •  GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • AMSPAR Receptionist qualification or NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role.
